A story about Candy and Lao, two 12-year old best friends. One fateful day while walking home, the girls come to a laneway - the short cut. Lao begins to walk down it but, in a moment of loyalty, Candy keeps a promise she made to her mother and chooses the long way home. To begin to understand the complex nature or relationships, is to begin to grow up.
