School Screen provides school students with access to high-quality free Australian film screening events in local cinemas or, if there is no easily accessible local cinema, in their own school.
Since 2000 Big Screen and its schools screening program, School Screen, have been making available the very best of Australian films to schools around regional Australia. In those seven years over 82,500 students have experienced free screenings of Australian films in locations as diverse as Cloncurry, Woomera, Mullewa and Burnie. In 2007, over 24,500 students had access to a total of 180 screenings, all of which took place in regional, rural and remote Australia. It is the NFSA's key strategy to facilitate and deliver opportunities for schools to access and engage with screen culture, especially in regional Australia.
For more information about screenings in your school or local cinema, visit the School Screen pages on the NFSA website.
Also, check out the 'For Schools' section in your home town for further details.
