I think Big Screen is a fantastic title for this touring exhibition because films are great when you fall into them and the only way you can do that is when you see them on a wide, wide screen. For a lot of you this is a great opportunity to get a hold of some Australia films because unfortunately our films might not survive very long in the city and consequently they don't find their way out to the country areas. Well, that's being properly addressed with this exhibition.Films for me are always judged, I think, by your own taste and your own mood and I suppose to a degree a little bit of film history can sometimes give you the context. In this festival you're going to see an extraordinary array of a history of this country and a visual sense and a dramatic landscape of this country that I hope you don't easily forget.I love touring because I did a lot of it when I was a young actor in the early '70s around Queensland and in New South Wales and later on with the Melbourne Theatre Company around Victoria, and I felt I got to know a huge amount about this extraordinary country that we live in by visiting these rural and regional areas. I hope you enjoy this season.
